When there is no do, only try.
Simple Strategies for Hard Times
A collection of 100+ prompts for the days that do you in — designed to help you get out of your head and into what’s next.
Gray Days is a card deck that helps you find an ‘I can’ in the depths of ‘just can’t’.
A shelf-worthy, come-as-you-are source of support for the moments self-care feels just out of reach.
Built from years inside burnout, chaos, and nothing-is-working days, the deck holds every strategy that actually helped make things better.
Tactics and questions drawn from the best of therapy, coaching, behavioral science, and business school — distilled into a self-paced, use-what-works, get-clarity-quick approach to getting yourself back to you.
It’s not theory. It’s seven years of survival-mode skills-building you can reach for when your brain goes “nope.”

Each card is a question, an idea, or a suggestion—an open-ended prompt offering options instead of prescriptions.
Think of it as a Rorschach test for rough days: What you see in it is what you need.
Cheaper than therapy. There for you when your brain’s not taking appointments.

In case you were wondering...
What’s so different about Gray Days?
Is this an affirmation deck?
Not really.
Gray Days doesn’t tell you anything.
It invites you into a small, tension-breaking moment that might help you move again — without pressure, but also without pretending that nice thoughts are enough.
Is the deck supposed to be therapy?
Gray Days isn’t therapy — but it understands how people in stuck states think.
It doesn’t analyze you.
It meets you where emotion swells and logic collapses — and offers a small raft to float on.
Why are the prompts so open-ended?
The cards aren’t meant to tell you what to do — or how to feel.
They’re designed to bring your own ideas, and maybe some long-tired instincts, to the surface again — in manageable doses.
Many cards can hold more than one meaning.
Whatever you moves you is the spark that matters.
What is a Gray Day?
It’s the kind of day where you’re spinning out, or shutting down.
Where everything feels like too much — or nothing at all.
You can’t think straight, but you can’t stop thinking either.
There’s no obvious next move. No clarity. No traction.
Gray Days was made for those days.
The foggy ones. The freakout ones.
The quietly awful ones — when no one is coming to help.
How is this different from a mindfulness deck?
Mindfulness decks are often about stillness and presence.
Gray Days is about forward motion, even if it’s sideways.
It’s not trying to force your feelings. It’s about getting you back to you — with small acts that don’t look like empowerment, but quietly add up over time.
What if I’m not up for more introspection?
Then you’re in the right place.
This deck doesn’t ask you to dig deep or uncover old wounds. It’s not prescribing another round of self-analysis. It’s about short, clear nudges that help you do something — or see something — you might not have space to see in the heat of the moment.
Why a deck of cards?
Because in the moments when everything feels too much, you don’t need a system — you need a lifeline.
We needed something within reach when we were short-circuiting in overwhelm.
Something small. Familiar. Tactile.
A tool that wouldn’t ask you to remember what helped last time — just one you could grab and trust to meet you in the madness.

Why We Made Gray Days
There was a stretch of time — a very long one— when everything fell apart.
My health faltered. Work dried up.
A marriage ended in chaos.
The dog I loved so dearly couldn’t walk the days with me any longer.
Earlier that year, I had lost my younger brother — and three other family members — in the same senseless week. Not too long after that, I miscarried.
It wasn’t just a bad season. It was a world turned upside down.
And in the aftermath, even the space between the minutes felt impossible.
Having struggled with anxiety in the years before, I had adopted the habit of collecting tactics that could reframe and rescue a day turned sour.
A phrase, a prompt, a tiny behavioral nudge.
Not fixes. Just tension-breaking moments that might keep things afloat a little longer.
When overwhelm raged and I could no longer remember the things that helped in the moments I needed them, I put each of those helpers into this deck.
Gray Days isn’t therapy. It’s not a mindset shift.
It’s a tool for when your mind’s not shifting.
When everything feels like static, and you need something that doesn’t ask you to do more than you can.
Not every card will work in every moment. And maybe not any card will work in some moments. That’s the point.
But on a “just can’t” day, one might help you find something to try. Some days that was enough.
You got it!
